An excellent essay! Very insightful look into some importants motifs of the greatest sci fi film ever made! I have always thought that Roy's last 'religious' acts, as mentioned here were similar to religious symbolism, ie Christ. Thankyou for re-informing my belief! There is so much people can read into about this magnificent film. Once again, thankyou to the author on a job well done!

I found this site through IMDB. Aside from the actual analitical piece that led me here, I'm very annoyed with this place. Old, unkept, different clicks lead to the same places, old news up the ass, etc. Waste of time. I'm un-signing up. Before I go, Ace, I'll say I really enjoyed your take on the film. Seriously. Very unique perspective, plausible, thought provoking, stays in the story presented on screen. The more I concider it...the more I like it. Are you on the BR boards @ IMDB? Hope so. Thanks!

^Unfortunately, he has it right.

At least get the names right...It's Deckard and Rachael.

And not one mention of film noir? The film's setting and main character "Deckert", as you so say, is heavily influenced by the genre - the smoky, obscured rooms and streets, the unwilling hero, the femme fatale (Rachael) etc.

Less story telling, more analysis.

My conception after the first viewing was this: 6 replicants had made
it to earth, 3 males and 3 females; 1 male and 1 female had been
zapped by the Tyrell Corporation sheilds, the other 4 had to be
retired; they reprogrammed the female that had been zapped with new
     memories to make her believe she was a human to see if it would work;
when it did, they reprogrammed the male to believe he was a blade
runner and sent him after the other 4. When he realized that Rachael
was a replicant he began to suspect that he was too; when he found the
unicorn, he knew it was true and decided to leave with Rachael.

Okay, nothing new so far, BUT..... The original 6 came to earth
because they knew that their 4 years were almost up and they would die
soon. I assumed that Gaff let Deckard and Rachael go because he knew
that they would die soon anyway and now that they were reprogrammed
they were harmless. I have just googled around to many sites
and read many opinions on BR and I have not once seen anyone mention
that they are going to die shortly after Gaff let them go. Hasn't that
     occured to anyone?

Ok, so late last night I caught wind of there being talks about the creation of a new movie in the Blade Runner universe. I also learned that so far, Ridley Scott is not involved?! How can you even talk about making a Blade Runner without Scott at the helm?

Hi,

I thought this movie T Shirt site might be of interest, well some of it anyway.

Uber Torso is a TShirt film run by film fans for film fans.

Their designs feature the corporations and brands that feature in cult movies, making them really unusual and eye-catching designs, definitely a talking point.

I thought I'd send you the Blade Runner designs.

http://www.ubertorso.com/brands/Blade-Runner-%281982%29

Have a look, if you'd be interested in featuring on the site in case your followers would be into it then just let me know and I'll send you some pics.

Best
